The chapel of rest for Pietrino Soddu, who died yesterday at the age of 97, was set up this morning in the Sala Sciuti of the Metropolitan City of Sassari.

Many people came to pay their respects to the politician, born in Benetutti in 1929 and who, over the years, served seven terms as President of the Sardinia Region and was a member of Parliament from 1983 to 1994. But these are partial mentions compared to a life dedicated to the institutions of the exponent of the Christian Democrats first and then of the People's Party.

Among those present for the occasion at the Provincial Palace, an institution led by Soddu for five years in the 1990s, were former Interior Minister Beppe Pisanu, former Extraordinary Commissioner of the Municipality and Province of Sassari Guido Sechi, current Mayor of the Sassari capital and Metropolitan City, Giuseppe Mascia, and President of the Sassari Court, Antonio Spano.

The funeral service will be held at 4 pm in the church of Mater Ecclesiae.
