Rosanna Pilloni, the 78-year-old woman whose body was found by the Carabinieri in a chest freezer in her home in Sarroch, died of natural causes.

The body, about 18 months ago, had been put in the freezer by her son, Sandro Mallus, 54 years old, who thus continued to pocket the money from the woman's minimum pension, the family's only income.

The autopsy on the body of the elderly woman, performed in Cagliari by the coroner Roberto Demontis, confirmed what emerged from the initial investigations but also what her son declared to the police when the body was found. The man is being investigated for concealment of a corpse and fraud against the State for the fraudulent collection of the pension.

Once the natural cause of death has been ascertained, to know what exactly caused it and above all to know the date on which the woman died, we will have to wait for the results of the histological and toxicological tests. Her health conditions were certainly not good: she had been taking drugs for some time and in Sarroch it was known to everyone.
