The Municipality of Sarroch will join the civil action in the proceedings that recently led to the indictment of Sarlux, CEO Settimio Guarrata, and environmental manager Walter Cocco, accused of environmental disaster for the release, over the past six years, of hazardous substances such as benzene and particulate matter from the refinery's facilities. Mayor Angelo Dessì announced the news to the City Council. The mayor explained that the City Council "has chosen to intervene already in the preliminary phase (the next hearing before the investigating judge is scheduled for December 4th) in order to guarantee the community full access to the trial documents and immediate knowledge of the charges raised by the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office."
