Fishing for sea urchins in Sardinia is at a standstill, and will remain so until 30 April 2025. But something is moving for the operators in the sector (fishermen, crew members and sellers): after ten months of controversy, the details on the modalities have arrived. which Agris, by decision of the Region, will involve them in order to be able to pay compensation.

Now it is also known how the sums that had been made available will be distributed, with the same law that had imposed the moratorium for three years, with the aim of repopulating the sea of the island: 400 thousand euros allocated for 2021 (not it is a mistake, it is a delay in the bureaucracy) and 1.2 million for the two following years, the current one and 2023.

In recent days Lega and Movimento 5 Stelle had attacked the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Gabriella Murgia, accused of inaction after the promises made to the fishermen, who had besieged the regional council asking for answers. A resolution of the council approved in the last session, on 13 October, is now enforceable.

The good news, for sea urchin fishing operators, is that Agris immediately afterwards, on the 14th, published the market survey aimed at "identifying operators authorized to practice professional underwater fishing interested in participating in the scientific monitoring plan. on the effects of stopping sea urchin fishing and on experimental, monitoring and environmental recovery activities ".

Only licensed fishermen will be involved.

Also calculate the sums for each. Each working day will be paid to the individual up to 250 euros. But the maximum ceiling is 6 thousand euros per year for those who fished from the shore, 12,000 "for companies holding authorization for professional underwater fishing that also operate by means of a support boat and relative person in charge of aid and rescue" and up to to 18 thousand for those who worked with 3 people on board.

What the activities will be, exactly, has not yet been clarified.
