In Sardinia there is a shortage of drivers, and the Region is launching an experimental measure aimed at the unemployed to reduce the costs of obtaining licenses to drive buses and rental vehicles .

The provision, approved today by the Council, was proposed by the Labor Councilor Desiré Manca. 1 million and 100 thousand euros were allocated from the 2023 administration surplus of Aspal.

"Among the work sectors that suffer from an imbalance between supply and demand is that of road transport, strategic both in terms of local public transport and in terms of services with a tourist vocation", Manca begins. "To fill this gap we have implemented a new experimental measure that provides for the provision of training vouchers for unemployed citizens aimed at financing training courses for obtaining C and CQC, D and CQC and E licenses ".

«In our Region, ANAV (National Association of Passenger Transport Companies) estimates a staff shortage of around 200 units, a deficit that can be reflected in the fulfillment of public service obligations but which also paints an alarming picture in the rental sector, considering the tourist vocation of the Island», explains the Five Star Movement representative.

A measure, concludes Manca, which " offers young people a concrete opportunity to enter a sector with high employment prospects ".
