Difficult day today (but not only) for Sardinia.

For the island, the regional civil protection has issued an alert for the danger of fires, raising it to a "high" level, from yellow to orange in the Cagliari area.

As it is underlined, the danger in these cases is characterized by conditions for which "once the trigger has taken place, the event, if not dealt with in a timely manner, can reach such dimensions as to make it difficult to contrast with ordinary forces, even if reinforced, as it could be necessary to of the state fleet".

But the alarm also comes from the weather front. Red dot weekend in Cagliari, where the Ministry of Health is on maximum alert for today and tomorrow. The red dot (or level 3) "indicates emergency conditions with possible negative effects on the health of healthy and active people and not only on subgroups at risk such as the elderly, very young children and people with chronic diseases".

Temperatures will be very high in southern and western Sardinia starting at 12 today, 15 July, and up to 20 on 18 July.

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday the phenomenon will affect the whole region and will be even more intense.

Maximum temperatures may exceed 44°C.
