In Sardinia four "hot" days, with maximum temperatures that could even exceed 40 degrees.

All this is due to the arrival on the Mediterranean of " high tropical pressures , which will face the low polar pressures that dominate the latitudes of Northern Europe".

For this reason, the regional Civil Protection has issued a weather alert, valid from Sunday 28th to Wednesday 31st August.

«In Sardinia – we read in the notice released today – until 31 July maximum temperatures are expected to often exceed 37° and locally above 40°. Minimum night temperatures will remain widely above 20°, with local peaks above 26°. The internal areas of the western sector will be affected more, although not exclusively."

Civil Protection also reminds us of the "rules" to be respected to protect health . That is to say:

  • Do not go out during the hottest hours, from 12pm to 6pm, especially those at risk
  • At home, protect yourself from the sun's heat with curtains or shutters
  • In general, consume light meals and eat lots of fruit, drink adequately, avoiding alcoholic beverages and caffeine
  • Wear light, light-colored clothing and hats and avoid synthetic fibers
  • If there are sick people in the house, make sure they are not covered too much
  • Those at risk are: elderly and/or non-self-sufficient or convalescent people, people who regularly take medicines, infants and young children, those who exercise or do intense work outdoors
