Red alert on provincial roads, high speeds and distracted drivingPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
In Sardinia, the year isn't over yet, but the road death toll reopens a wound that never heals: 83 deaths since the beginning of 2025, including the latest cases in Sulcis.
The numbers are slightly lower than in the same period in 2024, but the island's mortality rate remains almost double the national average.
The new report from the Sardinian Observatory on Road Safety focuses particularly on provincial roads, currently the most treacherous stretch of the road network, so much so that the Region has allocated €110 million to improve their safety.
The Carlo Felice Highway and several other state highways continue to record the most serious accidents. However, speed is no longer the leading cause: distraction, often linked to smartphones, has become the most lethal threat to drivers and crosswalks. Now we wait for the promised measures to actually arrive on the road.
