On the Rena Bianca beach, intensely frequented during the summer by residents and tourists, «an "environmental contribution" has been established to be paid by users who access it, the amount of which will be determined by the Municipal Council».

This is established by one of the amendments made to the "Regulations on the use of beaches and the coastline", approved by a majority this morning by the City Council. The municipal company Silene, to which the service will be entrusted, will collect and confiscate it.

It is not specified when the "ticket" will be applied and in what ways and possibly with what exemptions and/or reductions but everything suggests, considering that we are in the month of February, that it could start as early as next summer.

The decision of the municipal administration of the mayor, Nadia Matta, falls «with a view to the continuous improvement of services and environmental protection and in order to implement landscape and environmental sustainability interventions, to purchase equipment, to promote protection and safeguarding the geomorphological and environmental balance, and creating further additional services that better respond to visitor requests, to preserve the authenticity and uniqueness of the beauties of La Rena Bianca and the adjacent areas of the municipal territory, while improving their conditions safety".

Furthermore, beach users, «when leaving the beach and in order to prevent the involuntary removal of sandy material, are required to use the equipped stations located at the exit of the walkways, in order to rinse their feet and objects personnel who came into direct contact with the sand. When carrying out this operation, the use of soaps or detergents of any kind is prohibited."

You may smoke but in specifically authorized areas. These are the main changes voted by a majority, with the two opposition councilors present voting against. The vote against which was expressed for the assignment of a new concession to a private individual, on the same beach, and for the lack of a technical report in the documents.
