The Oristano Coast Guard patrol boat, a unit specialized in search and rescue activities, rescued a man who was windsurfing in the stretch of sea in front of the town of Abarossa in the municipality of Santa Giusta .

The man was with the surfboard about 300 meters from the coast when the sail broke: the 47-year-old Swiss was no longer able to reach the shore also due to the worsening weather conditions and the intensity of the wind.

Rescue operations were carried out immediately, coordinated by the Operations Room of the Port Authority of Oristano, which alerted the crew and sent the M/V CP 893 to the scene.

Reached by the Coast Guard soldiers , the man was visibly tired and shaken . Once boarded aboard the Oristano Coast Guard rescue unit, he was brought safely ashore.
