They allegedly chased, stalked, and killed an animal with an excavator. Then, after crushing it under the weight of the tracks, they threw a stone at it. The brutally violent scene captures the last moments of a still-unidentified white bundle of fur. It was captured on video in Cagliari 's Anelli Park , where redevelopment work is underway.

The video was sent to the City's animal rights watchdog, lawyer Francesca Maria Cogoni. The footage shows two men : "one driving a small excavator, the other on foot, while they were not performing the work for which they were there." This sequence prompted the watchdog to report the incident, with a complaint that will be filed with law enforcement "to quickly identify the two men." The story was also posted on Facebook , along with details of the video.

"The man driving the small excavator," Cogoni explains, "was chasing a white tuft of fluff, trying to run it over under the tracks, hitting it with the bucket. Until he succeeded." Then the other man: "He approaches, observes, and decides to kick the white tuft of fluff, which flies and crashes to the ground. He gets closer, bends down, evaluates, picks up a stone, and throws it at the living creature that had just been running desperately."

For the guarantor, " actions like these undermine trust and represent a more serious and profound affront than it may appear ." She adds: "A man on an excavator, from now on, will always remind me of this episode." The Municipality, meanwhile, has begun an investigation to "ensure not only the most careful and complete respect for the animals, but also the dignity of the workers."
