There are delays. And now it's not just a hypothesis. The Municipality "has worked and continues to work to limit the completion time for the San Benedetto market redevelopment. Some delays in individual phases have been caused by external factors, particularly Enel's work on electrical infrastructure, which is essential to allow the work to proceed. To limit the impact of these critical issues, we have proceeded, where possible, with partial handovers of the areas and preparatory work, without waiting for the interference to be fully resolved. The goal remains to complete the project and allow the market to reopen in 2028."

The completion date for the "renovation" of the historic structure has therefore been postponed. These are the words of Yuri Marcialis, Councilor for Mobility, Urban Infrastructure and Municipal Office Management, and were spoken this afternoon during the meeting with the San Benedetto/Piazza Nazzari Market Committee.

Also present on behalf of the administration were Carlo Serra, Councilor for Economic Development and Productive Sectors ; Alessandro Cossa , Director of the SUAP (Italian Environmental Protection Agency), Markets and Productive Activities; and Daniele Olla, Director of the Public Works Service, along with representatives of the Municipal Markets Department. The Committee also included five representatives of the various product categories present at the market. Among the stallholders, concern is beginning to arise over the feared delays.

During the meeting, initiatives that could be implemented in the coming months were also discussed. This includes the project to set aside some stalls for "stand-up dining" where visitors and tourists can enjoy tastings of ready-made products and other forms of on-site consumption.

Councilor Carlo Serra stated: "The refreshment stand initiatives and Christmas events in Piazza Nazzari are designed to explore new opportunities for operators during this interim phase and expand the offering for residents and tourists, with the goal of reviving them at the new San Benedetto location."
