Disruption is expected for motorists traveling along state highway 195 from Cagliari toward Capoterra and Pula . The Anas construction site on the Sulcitana is scheduled to begin today at noon, with the aim of rehabilitating the road, which was severely damaged by the fury of Cyclone Harry last January.
The work will proceed gradually, with the first step being the closure of the road at specific points and the diversion of traffic . Specifically, those arriving from Cagliari and traveling towards Capoterra-Pula will be directed to the new roundabout built by the Cagliari Port Authority (at approximately km 5.280), then continue along provincial road 92, the Seconda Strada (formerly SP1), and the Dorsale Consortile di Macchiareddu, before rejoining state road 195 at km 8.900.
However, transit on state road 195 will remain unchanged for those travelling in the opposite direction, from Pula-Capoterra towards Cagliari.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of July. The final 2-kilometer section of the first phase of the "Nuova Sulcitana" highway is also scheduled to open to traffic in July, completing the new four-lane route.
In recent weeks, the announcement of the work has been met with controversy, as numerous tourists are arriving on Highway 195 alongside the workers, adding to the countless residents who travel this important artery every day. However, according to the Region, the timeline is tight because the arrival of another storm surge or extreme weather event could irreparably damage the highway.
