Second joint event between Cagliari and Quartu, in collaboration with numerous associations and students from various schools, to protect the Poetto seafront, an environmental and naturalistic heritage shared by the two municipalities.
The event on Saturday, April 18, starting from the Ottagono plant, has a specific goal, starting from the initiative's name, "Plastic? No, thanks" : a cleanup and awareness campaign to reduce the use of one of the most environmentally harmful materials.
The goal is to initiate action to gradually reduce plastic, especially along the seafront, with a view to its complete elimination in the near future. This commitment is now vital for the protection, preservation, and enhancement of beaches, the sea, and the entire marine ecosystem, in collaboration with the associations Rebelterra, MareVivo Sud Sardegna, Oikos, Cittadinanza Attiva, Plastic Free, Retake, Domus de Luna, and Legambiente.
"Good practices," emphasizes Cagliari Mayor Massimo Zedda , "are represented by the work of many associations and the volunteer work of so many individuals, including students, who look to the future with hope and responsibility. Collaborating with institutions means moving in the same direction together: caring for the environment today so we can continue to enjoy it tomorrow. The collaboration between the municipalities of Cagliari and Quartu on this important day of cleanup and awareness raising to reduce plastic on beaches and in the sea demonstrates yet another example of the harmony between institutions."
"We renew our commitment to environmental protection and landscape enhancement," says Tore Sanna , Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Quartu. "The collaboration with Cagliari, which began last fall with similar events, has already yielded positive results, and I am confident that this time too, participation will be impressive. I thank all the organizations that are actively involved in this and other events, with the dual objective of cleaning up areas of land mistreated by the lack of environmental awareness of some individuals and raising awareness of the need to show the utmost respect for our beloved land."
