They mistake a heart attack for a gastrointestinal problem and the man is now 95% disabled . The fact dates back to 2022 when the Sassari man, then 45 years old, went to the Sorso medical emergency services complaining of chest pain and pain in his left arm . As written, the doctors diagnosed poor digestion and hypochondria and discharged him.

But a few hours later the man suffers a heart attack , is resuscitated after ten minutes without a pulse and ends up under the knife for surgery. The operation saves his life but unfortunately cannot avoid the consequences of cardiac arrest and neurological damage, namely the complete loss of autonomy that, most likely, will continue for the rest of his existence. Among the most disastrous outcomes of the heart attack is also the need to be fed via a PEG .

The family members, assisted by the lawyer Franco Fois, filed a complaint and now the two doctors are accused of "culpable liability for injuries in the healthcare sector" . Along with the criminal proceedings, the civil proceedings are underway where, however, the already difficult situation has reached an impasse.

"We proceeded with the medical assessment ordered by the judge - says the lawyer Fois - in which the professionals designated by the ASL participated. This ascertained the responsibilities". At that point the lawyer presents to the Company, registered, a request for conciliation for the compensation due. "I presented it in April, I did not receive a response and I sent it again in May".

Silence this time too. "I find it very serious - says Fois - that we have not had any kind of feedback from the ASL". The times are getting longer: the man lives assisted by nurses, he will no longer be able to work, and he is bedridden, dependent on others for everything. Meanwhile in the criminal trial the two medical guards have asked, in recent days in court in Sassari, to access probation but the judge Claudia Sechi has reserved the right to decide on the admission clarifying that it will be conditional on compensation for the damage suffered by the victim and her family. A very large compensation "that - continues Fois - should be given by the ASL or its insurance, which will then recover the costs from the two doctors". But on this aspect we are still waiting for news from the Company.
