"Hunger strike until Pratobello arrives in the Council": Michele Zuddas' protest
Permanent picket started in the afternoon: "It will last until the law reaches the Chamber"The permanent picket for Pratobello 24, the popular initiative bill that has collected over 211,000 signatures, began this afternoon, under the Regional Council in Cagliari. "The protest will last until the law reaches the Chamber," says Michele Zuddas.
"We have organized ourselves," he continues, "with all the Pratobello committees that, unlike what the President of the Region claimed, do not collaborate to define the bill 45 on suitable areas, which we are strongly against, as we have always said and we reiterate once again. So we are determined: at this moment what saddens us is to see that the first attempt at participatory democracy, carried forward through the popular initiative law, has been set aside by the Regional Council . To date we do not know what the fate of the Pratobello law will be: at the moment it has not reached the committees, we know for sure that it has not arrived from the Regional Council because the request for the urgent procedure was rejected. Faced with this, faced with yet another contemptuous attitude towards democracy, I believe and I take on the burden with the extreme gesture of a hunger strike until this law reaches the Regional Council ."
Then he announces a sensational initiative: " I believe I have a moral and political obligation towards all the people who have trusted us by signing this law ", concludes Zuddas, "convinced that democracy and peaceful demonstrations were still a useful tool and respected by this Regional Council. I still want to believe that there is room for the Region to urgently bring the Pratobello law to the Chamber".
