"Building the future of stadiums: a shared and sustainable path". This is the title of the event scheduled for Friday, February 21st from 11 am to 2 pm at Obicà, in the Food Hall on the sixth floor of Rinascente in via Roma in Cagliari. It will host an important national platform for dialogue between administrators, experts and institutions to discuss the future of stadiums in Italy. The meeting is promoted and organized by the association InOltre – Alternativa Progressista, chaired by Giordano Bozzanca.
The event, sponsored by the National Institute of Urban Planning (INU), aims to share best practices and innovative solutions to make stadiums more sustainable, accessible and integrated into cities . "Stadiums are not just places of sport, but also drivers of urban, economic and social development. Our goal is to encourage the comparison between different experiences to identify sustainable and replicable solutions throughout the country," said Bozzanca.
"Cagliari is the city where I chose to move, after years of study and practice in Rome", continues the president of the association that organizes the event. "Its strength lies in the people. I trust and hope that the challenge of the city, of its citizens, but also of the municipal and regional institutions, in view of the European Championships 2032, is to open up more and more to a broader and more attractive dimension". And it is precisely in the capital that the green light is awaited for the facility that should be built in place of the Sant'Elia .
Crucial issues such as environmental sustainability and ecological impact of new structures, accessibility and redevelopment of urban mobility related to sports facilities, safety and innovation in sports infrastructure, economic role of stadiums between public and private investments will be addressed from different perspectives and territorial angles. Professor and lawyer Federico Orso, from the University of Florence, will provide an overview of stadium regulations .
Speakers include Alessandro Venanzi, Deputy Mayor of Udine, Maurizio Veloccia, Council Member for Urban Planning of Rome, Marco Bosi, Council Member for Budget and Sport of Parma, Gennaro Acampora, Commission for Infrastructure and Mobility of Naples, Ludovica Cioria, Vice President of the City Council and Commission for Infrastructure of Turin, Serena Lenzotti, Deputy Mayor of Sassuolo, Stefano Malerba, Council Member for Sport of Varese, Dario Nardella, MEP and former Mayor of Florence, Giancarlo Tancredi, Council Member for Urban Planning of Milan, Massimo Finocchiaro, Council Member for Sport and Productive Policies of Messina, and Pierluigi Vossi, Council Member for Sport of Perugia.
"The construction and modernization of stadiums directly affect citizens, influencing the quality of urban life, traffic, the environment and the local economy. Modern stadiums are not just sports facilities, but can become multifunctional spaces that enhance entire neighborhoods, generating economic opportunities and new services for the community ," says the InOltre association.
The event will be introduced by Giordano Bozzanca, and the works will be moderated by Nicoletta Pannofino. A debate session is planned to allow the public to ask questions and intervene.
