An illegal hedgehog kiosk was seized at the Poetto di Quartu Sant'Elena during an operation conducted by the local police and the Port Authority - Coast Guard of Cagliari. Over 1,200 sea urchins have been returned to the sea.

The joint intervention made it possible to dismantle the sea urchin resale business - near the roundabout facing Viale Colombo - which was found to be abusive following the ascertainment of various violations. The kiosk equipment has been seized and is awaiting final confiscation , and more than 1,200 sea urchins still alive were seized, which were rescued and thrown back into the sea in a restocking area by a Coast Guard patrol boat.

The blitz was born after some reports and made it possible to verify the occupation of state-owned land without authorization and in the total lack of observation of the prescriptions concerning the administration of food and drink . The business owners were fined €5,000.

The Coast Guard also found the lack of traceability conditions for the catch , and among other things, the trader had already been sanctioned recently for the same offence.

The kiosk had been operating illegally for some time: in fact, 16 violations were found against it in the period from 2014 to 2023.
