There was a scare last night on Via San Benedetto in Quartu. For reasons yet to be determined, two small cars collided head-on a few meters from the intersection with Viale Colombo, heading toward Via Fiume.
Ambulances arrived immediately, and firefighters also had to intervene to extract one of the drivers from the vehicle. Although the situation initially appeared serious, none of the drivers are in life-threatening danger. To allow for rescue operations, Via San Benedetto was closed to traffic, with cars arriving from Poetto only being able to proceed straight toward Viale Colombo. Those arriving from Via Salieri were forced to turn either toward Viale Colombo or Poetto. The roar brought countless people out into the streets, curious to know what had happened. Unfortunately, despite the raised pedestrian crossings installed specifically to increase the safety of drivers and pedestrians, high-speed traffic continues on Via San Benedetto, as is the case on other streets in the center and suburbs, which have become more passable after the resurfacing.
