The closing meeting of the project “ Education against poverty-Educational courses for refugee children in Lebanon ” was held in the Fresco Room of the former Capuchin convent in Quartu.

The project, proposed by the Associazione Amicizia Sardegna Palestina ODV through the Lebanese organization Nuwat - Social Solidarity Center, involved 300 Palestinian and Syrian children between the ages of 6 and 18 currently residing in the refugee camps of Ain El Hilweh, Badawi, Burj Al Barajneh and Naher al Bared in Lebanon, involving them in courses to combat dropout and school recovery and providing information and psychological support to families and the children themselves , always with a view to enhancing their abilities and developing skills oriented towards continuation of studies or professional start-up.

During the morning, the results of the project were also presented, which achieved encouraging success rates particularly in the eradication of illiteracy and in the recovery of the English and Arabic languages .

The Sardinian part of the project featured a representation of the primary and secondary classes of the Istituto Comprensivo 2 "Maria Lai" in Quartu Sant'Elena . In recent months, children and teenagers have been involved in 15-hour guided workshops , aimed at promoting knowledge of the context and exchange with their peers in Lebanon through readings and films.
At the end of the workshop, the students from Quarto were able to get to know their classmates via the web , exchanging mutual experiences and knowledge with the help of cultural mediators provided by the Sardinia-Palestine association.
