Five Covid positive sailors aboard the BBC Brisbane freight ship from the Turkish city of Izmir. The boat, flying the Antigua and Barbuda flag, with 12 crew members, was forced to dock at the Ponente 1 commercial port of Porto Torres due to the presence of five subjects tested positive for the swab.

During the unloading operation of some wind turbines, one of the sailors taken ill was transferred to the emergency room of Sassari with the 118 ambulance alarmed by the Port Authority. Arriving at the hospital, the seafarer was subjected to a throat swab which gave a positive result to the virus. A result that triggered further investigations on the other crew members.

Five sailors were infected with the consequent provision of the quarantine procedure for all persons present on board, a period of isolation necessary until the negativization. All according to the protocols provided by the Maritime Authority and the provisions issued by the Maritime Health Office.
