"We have a moral duty to give our Cagliari a new government after 4 years of bad leadership of the city by the center-right." The first statements by Guido Portoghese, who had just been elected city secretary of the Democratic Party during the party assembly held in the historic headquarters in Via Emilia in the afternoon, are a gauntlet to the current administration of Palazzo Bacaredda.

In his report, Portoghese underlined, reads a note, «the need to immediately start the process in view of the municipal elections that will take place next spring. In particular , the need to immediately set up the coalition tables at the city level and to build the proposal and the political program for the city government was underlined».

In his speech, the new secretary added: «I am proud that my election is the result of a unitary agreement shared by all the sensitivities of the party. Leading the Democratic Party of Cagliari in this historical moment is a great responsibility, the next administrative elections will be in more than a year but our commitment starts to build a new proposal starting now ».

During the meeting, the president of the assembly, Maria Laura Manca, and the treasurer Corrado Confalone were also elected, as well as 23 members of the board.
