Power poles are out , and a long stretch of road along the Porto Torres coast remains in the dark . The affected road is the former provincial road 81, where the 36 new streetlights, the public lighting system powered by renewable sources, are out .

"The problem has persisted for days," explains League group leader Ivan Cermelli, who denounces the dangerous state of the road, a full 1,100 meters of coastal road between the small churches of Balai Vicino and Balai Lontano, which pose safety issues. For the Porto Torres League, this isn't a minor incident, "but rather a fact that brings a specific political issue to the forefront: the administration's ability to ensure the long-term functioning of the projects completed. The city doesn't just need new projects, announcements, and investments," he says, "but it also needs what's being built to continue to function and be carefully monitored even after the work is completed."

The former SP 81 road crosses one of the most important stretches of the Porto Torres coastline, frequented daily by residents, families, athletes, and visitors. "Leaving such a recent infrastructure completely unattended creates a safety, decorum, and image problem for the city," Cermelli continues. "Therefore, we believe it is essential to clearly understand the causes of the entire system's failure, who is responsible for maintenance, and the expected timeframe for restoration."

According to the League representative, "too often, maintenance is considered secondary to the construction of new infrastructure. An investment only makes sense if it produces real and ongoing benefits for the community." The League is therefore calling for all 36 lighting points to be reactivated immediately and for the overall efficiency of the system along the former provincial road 81 to be verified. "We also ask for clarification on the monitoring and maintenance system in place, because a city cannot afford to pursue problems only after they become evident."
