Porto Torres massacre, the testimony of the carabiniere: "I will never forget what I saw"
The trial of Fulvio Baule resumes, who in February 2022 killed his in-laws with an ax and seriously injured his wife. Listen to four witnesses" Despite many years of service, I will never be able to forget what I saw ."
The testimony of Marshal Gianfranco Serra , commander of the Sennori Carabinieri station who intervened in February 2022 on the site of the massacre perpetrated in Porto Torres by Fulvio Baule, the 40-year-old from Ploaghe who killed his in-laws with an ax and reduced his wife to death .
Today the trial resumed with immediate judgment in the Court of Assizes in Sassari, with the testimony of four witnesses called by the prosecutor Enrica Angioni: a neighbor who in the moments following the attack took care of the couple's two one-year-old children and three carabinieri who intervened on the site of the double homicide.
The military spoke of the nightmare scenario they found themselves facing as soon as they arrived at the scene, the rescue of the two women and the first confession of Baule, who turned himself in to the barracks a few minutes later.
The most touching testimony is that of Gianfranco Serra, who spoke after being called by his sister, who lives in the same building as the victims where the attack took place: "I will never forget what I saw" , his words.
In the next hearings , the defendant, who is present today in the courtroom together with his lawyer Nicola Lucchi, will also be questioned. The family of the victims filed a civil action with the lawyers Gabriele Satta, Gianmario Solinas and Silvia Ferraris.
The double crime dates back to the evening of February 26, 2022: after having argued on the street with his wife Ilaria Saladdino, in front of the building where she lived with her parents in Porto Torres, Baule took an ax from the trunk of his car and struck her on the head before his father-in-law Basilio Saladdino, killing him on the spot, then his wife and finally his mother-in-law, Liliana Mancusa, who died in hospital after a month in a coma . His wife was seriously injured and was released from the hospital after a year . Baule fled, abandoning his two one-year-old twin sons who had witnessed the massacre on the street, to then turn himself in shortly after to the Porto Torres carabinieri.
Next hearings on 12 and 26 September.
