The Forza Italia "Annibale Francesconi" city secretariat in Porto Torres withdraws Ilaria Faedda's candidacy for mayor and remains within the center-right coalition, ensuring its presence in the election through a process that allows the coalition to remain united. Meanwhile, the Lega and Fratelli d'Italia parties are maintaining Ivan Cermelli's candidacy for mayor, who has already begun his campaign. For the Forza Italia party, this is a decision made with "political responsibility and aimed at protecting its electorate, ensuring strong, consistent, and recognizable representation." This choice does not represent a renunciation of its identity, but rather an act of political maturity aimed at preserving the work accomplished over the years, "the roots built in the local area and the relationship of trust with citizens, supporters, and voters," the city secretariat maintains.
The decision follows a careful and thorough internal discussion and ongoing dialogue with other center-right forces. In recent months, the Forza Italia party has worked to help define a unified coalition path, "with the need to build a credible, shared, and truly competitive political proposal."
However, the discussions that have begun have not yet led to a fully shared consensus on the mayoral candidate. "Forza Italia has approached this situation with a sense of responsibility, avoiding rushing ahead and always maintaining an approach that respects the collegial dynamics that must characterize a solid coalition."
Forza Italia reiterates a fundamental political principle: "Candidates, especially for administrative leadership roles, must arise from a shared path among the coalition forces and cannot be the result of unilateral initiatives.
At the same time, the party believes it is "essential to avoid divisions that would risk weakening the entire center-right camp and compromising the possibility of offering the city a serious and credible alternative."
