The operations to remove the sheets and fragments of Eternit that invade the carriageway of Via Marco Polo and a stretch of provincial road 34, the road between Via Pigafetta and Via dell'Industria that leads to the industrial area of Porto Torres, closed to traffic for two weeks due to the dangerous situation for the health of citizens, have been scheduled for today.
A measure adopted by the mayor Massimo Mulas with an ordinance, following the collapse of asbestos fragments onto the road, fallen from the roofs of the old industrial buildings of the Sarda Laterizi company, due to the storm that hit the city on December 20 and 23 .
The company, owner of the abandoned warehouse, guaranteed the removal and safety of the building, in agreement with the Province of Sassari, the body that manages the road, using the appropriate tools for remediation.
The order required the company owners to intervene within 15 days of notification of the provision, a deadline that expires today, January 7, the day on which the works to consolidate the roofs and the remediation of the area are scheduled, so as to avoid further collapses.
