There was a shakeup in the PSDAz after the latest congress of the Sassari Federation, which appointed 21 members of the provincial committee called to elect the next provincial secretary.
The one to slam the door is the secretary Psd'Az of the "Antonio Simon Mossa" section of Porto Torres, Emanuele Riu together with the deputy secretary Patrizia Madeddu.
"It is with deep regret that I announce my resignation, effective immediately, from the position of secretary of the "Antonio Simon Mossa" branch of the Sardinian Action Party in Porto Torres." The city secretary has communicated his resignation in writing, a note addressed to secretary Christian Solinas and president Antonio Moro. These decisions have created a deep rift within the Quattro Mori, a split down the middle, with two factions that will influence the party's future. The majority, led by former governor Solinas, who pushed for the candidacy of Gavino Gaspa, the most voted for at the congress and the likely federal secretary, and the minority, led by president Antonio Moro, along with Efisio Planetta and Carlo Doria, who supported Andrea Sassu. The result was the election of 21 members of the provincial committee: 14 from the majority and 7 from the minority. This decision, Riu and Madeddu write, follows the Provincial Congress of the Sassari Federation, which outlined political and organizational lines that we absolutely do not share. We are deeply disappointed with the outcome of the congress, and we believe the political and moral conditions no longer exist to continue our commitment in the roles we have held to date. In light of this, in addition to resigning from our positions, we are announcing our voluntary suspension from the Party, effective immediately. The same decision to suspend ourselves, they add, has also been made by approximately half of the members of the "Antonio Simon Mossa" Section of Porto Torres, who fully share our positions and our profound dissent. Our personal respect for the Party institutions remains unchanged, but we cannot identify with the choices and political directions that emerged.
