Fire on board a catamaran flying the French flag in the waters of Porto Ottiolu. It happened today, late morning. On the 12 meter sailing vessel there was a couple of tourists, she of South American nationality and he French. The causes of the fire are yet to be ascertained.

The operations room of the Maritime Directorate of Olbia received numerous calls and emergency reports from swimmers who had noticed the presence of flames about 400 meters from the beach. The rescue machine left immediately: the men of the Coast Guard, led by vessel captain Gianluca D'Agostino, went aboard a patrol boat with a team of firefighters to the point indicated by the coordinates. The couple had already reached the shoreline of the beach aboard a tender. The fiberglass boat was completely destroyed, what remained of its structure ended up on the shallow seabed near the beach. The municipal administration of Budoni promptly organized the cleaning of the beach and the body of water.
