While the historic Tramariglio headquarters remains the beating heart of Porto Conte Ricerche 's major technological infrastructure, the branch office inaugurated in Sassari, at Via Predda Niedda 27, confirms its mission as a driving force for the region's economic development. This morning, the official inauguration of the new Sassari facility took place, attended by authorities and representatives from the business community. The new opening represents the company's desire to bridge the gap between pure research and everyday entrepreneurship, growing alongside businesses through a truly local approach.
Sardegna Ricerche, present at the inauguration with its general director Carmen Atzori , is investing in the growth and modernization of its Science and Technology Park facilities, of which Porto Conte Ricerche is an important branch, together with IMC in Oristano and CRS4 in Pula.
"We are consolidating our role as a technology accelerator. Our mission is to transform scientific knowledge into market and social value. We are the bridge between research and industrial production, working with operational autonomy within the systemic vision of Sardegna Ricerche, our strategic "director" who defines the major regional development trajectories in line with the guidelines of the RAS," stated Gavino Sini, sole director of Porto Conte Ricerche.
Companies that collaborate with the agency can thus test product and process innovations to have them ready for implementation in their own plants without the need for further and costly scale adjustments, reducing risks and time-to-market.
A tangible example of this mission is found in the brewing sector. Thanks to a cutting-edge microbrewery and, more importantly, the only experimental micromalting plant in Sardinia, the organization is working to create a craft beer supply chain that aims to come as close as possible to producing a Sardinian beer. The goal is strategic: to allow local breweries, which currently source malt primarily from outside the island, to use raw materials grown and processed locally, giving their products a territorial identity and unprecedented traceability.
Equally vital is the commitment to the grain sector, where an industrial bakery equipped with the best professional technologies allows for the large-scale application of Sardinian flours and semolina. From bread making to traditional desserts, to fresh and filled pasta, such as the famous culurgiones and seadas, Porto Conte Ricerche supports businesses in maintaining quality and artisanal tradition while operating at industrial production volumes.
The organization's commitment to sustainability finds its highest expression in the aquaculture sector. Through dedicated feed testing facilities , it drives research into cutting-edge fish nutrition. The goal is to overcome the "fish-fed fish" paradox by testing plant-based and alternative proteins to reduce the environmental impact of farms and promote a truly circular blue economy.
