Petrol station burned for revenge in viale Marconi, here are the six arrested

He had paid for fuel and cigarettes with fake money and for this the distributor manager had reported him. This would be the reason for the arson attack which on 14 April last year sent the Esso fuel supplier in viale Marconi to ashes. The men of the Flying Squad (Property Crimes Section), coordinated by Fabrizio Mustaro arrested Simone Cocco, 33 years old from Monserrato, a coachbuilder (suspected of being the instigator) and two alleged perpetrators, Andrea Prasciolu, 49 years old, from Cagliari and Enrico Ecca, 41 from San Sperate. During the investigation, the policemen discovered that Prasciolu was also involved in the fire in Sestu of a car belonging to a young saleswoman. Valter Casula, 52, and Pierluigi Corda, 53, from Cagliari, also ended up in Uta for this affair.

That's not all, the handcuffs were also taken for Chiara Saba, 41, from Cagliari, owner of a series of b&bs between the capital and the Red Margin, would have warned the bomber involved in the fires in Viale Marconi and Sestu that the Police were looking for him.

Hell fire

On the night of April 14, 2022, all hell had broken out in Viale Marconi. The attackers had parked a compactor truck stolen shortly before from Quartucciu's Econord under the shed. From there the flames had started and in a few minutes they had enveloped the structure. Only the intervention of the firefighters, who arrived from the nearby barracks, had prevented the explosion of the gas and fuel tanks. The damage, still visible today, was huge: 500,000 euros.

The turning point

The turning point came from an email used in a tablet stolen from the Econord together with the two trucks (one was burned to ashes in the attack, the other was "cannibalised" nearby). Through the e-mail address, the investigators reached a young student who had received it as a gift for her diploma from a relative who in turn had bought it from two Bosnians (reported for receiving stolen goods). Bingo. The two said they got it from one of the alleged arsonists. For the agents, the road has been downhill since then. They intercept the man and in a short time manage to identify the accomplice and the instigator. "In 2016, the service station managers had reported the man for having used counterfeit banknotes on three or four occasions to buy petrol and tobacco for a sum of a few hundred euros," explains the head of the Mustaro mobile team.
