Pensioner Dies of Hardship in Calangianus: Carer Sent to Trial

A 45-year-old Romanian woman has been sent to trial for the death of Calangianus pensioner Cesidio Cugini.
The facts date back to October 2020. The elderly man was found alone in his home in Calangianus, naked, lying on the floor, and died in hospital, in Nuoro, a few days after being admitted.
At the request of the lawyer Giuseppe Corda, the legal representative of Vittorio Cugini, the pensioner's son, the case was re-examined.
Tempio prosecutor Alessandro Bosco has charged the elderly man's caregiver with the crimes of abandonment of an incapacitated person and failure to provide assistance, conduct that, according to the magistrate, caused the victim's death . The trial will begin on September 9th before the Sassari Court of Assizes.
