For weeks in 2023, the non-EU owner of a restaurant in the center of Sassari was targeted by young people, who ordered kebabs and other dishes, consumed them, and didn't pay.

And when the 43-year-old dared to ask for something, he was beaten up by the gang, who, on one occasion, even took the cash register from the place and threw it to the floor.

The ongoing violence culminated two years ago, when several minors and a 19-year-old were accused of brutally beating the restaurateur, causing him head and chest trauma.

Following yet another attack, the man decided to file a complaint, and a 19-year-old man was recently tried in court before Judge Antonietta Crobu. He faces charges of aggravated assault. The minors who allegedly participated in the attack will be tried in separate proceedings in the juvenile court. The injured party, who has joined the civil action, is represented by attorney Salvatore Carlo Castronuovo.
