A sudden illness on the street, emergency medical services, and then a desperate rush in an ambulance. Despite resuscitation efforts, nothing could be done for a 72-year-old pensioner who died Friday morning at the emergency room entrance of Oristano hospital. A tragic event that leaves so many questions unanswered that the Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to shed light on the cause of death.

It all happened Friday morning, shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Via Nazionale. According to initial reconstructions, the man was near the pharmacy when he felt unwell and collapsed. He was immediately treated, and shortly thereafter an ambulance with volunteer paramedics arrived on the scene. His condition immediately appeared very serious, requiring medical attention, so much so that many of those present continued to call 118, urging them to send an ambulance. These were moments of great excitement and tension, as the minutes passed and the pensioner's condition appeared increasingly critical. Then the ambulance arrived with the doctor, who immediately attempted to resuscitate the 72-year-old. The rush to the San Martino emergency room ensued, but by the time the ambulance reached the hospital entrance, the former worker's heart had stopped beating.

There has been considerable controversy in the town over the rescue efforts; Mayor Domenico Gallus has declined to comment at this time. A complaint has been filed regarding the incident, and the Oristano prosecutor's office has opened an investigation. The body has been seized, and efforts are underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Rescue procedures and alleged delays are also being investigated.
