The metallic glint of the isothermal sheets at the top of the hill, all around a disaster. For hundreds of meters the road is covered with engine parts, the tires and fairings of a powerful Honda have ended up among the mastic tree branches. The scene is terrifying, on the provincial road that leads from Paulilatino to Ula Tirso yesterday all hell broke loose: a very violent collision between four motorbikes and a car , two of the powerful cars caught fire, ending up among the trees and starting a fire of vast proportions.

In the accident, the dynamics of which are yet to be clarified, three motorcyclists lost their lives: Mario Sedda, 31 years old, Roberto Daga (27) from Paulilatino, and Giovanni Melis (32 years old, originally from Gadoni but resident in Abbasanta). Another motorcyclist and the driver of the car, both from Paulilatino, were also injured.

It was around 1.30pm when the four friends riding their motorbikes were traveling along the long straight road heading towards Paulilatino. They were returning from the usual weekend tour but after yet another descent, a merciless fate awaited them. A brand new black Mercedes was traveling in the opposite direction and the devastating impact occurred just after one of the many bumps. No signs of braking, the car and the motorbikes suddenly found themselves on the same trajectory and the result was chilling. It is not clear whether there was an invasion of the lane by the Mercedes or by the motorbikes which, from initial investigations, appear to have been traveling in single file.
