Passenger falls ill during cruise; evacuated by helicopter off Capo Carbonara
This is a German tourist who was treated for suspected pancreatitis.Operation by the Cagliari Coast Guard, which yesterday coordinated a medical evacuation to rescue a 58-year-old German passenger suffering from suspected acute pancreatitis aboard the Italian-flagged Aida Cosma cruise ship sailing between Cagliari and Civitavecchia.
The alarm was raised at 6:50 PM while the ship was approximately 8 nautical miles southeast of Capo Carbonara . To rescue the man, a helicopter departed from Decimomannu and, upon reaching the ship, picked up the passenger and transferred him to the Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari.
