One hundred years with a smile and a desire to live, Ottavio Ortu, the new centenary of Porto Torres celebrated the important milestone with hugs and good wishes . With the simplicity of always he told his past, thirty years of life dedicated to work in the countryside of Nurra to cultivate the land, then the decision to take another path, the port activity in the maritime port of Turritano in the golden age of petrochemicals, at the height of the industrial boom. Ottavio Ortu spent his childhood in via Libio, in the city center, before moving to the historic district of Monte Agellu where he raised his family, 9 children of which 8 are alive and about thirty between grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

"I was born in Porto Torres, a city that I loved and still love for its beauty and for the many opportunities it has offered me and the many Sardinians who have worked in the industrial area," he says enthusiastically. "Today the situation has changed a lot," he adds, "few ships in port and closed factories." A widower for some time, he has always surrounded himself with the affection of his loved ones , the same ones who have never failed to show him love and recognition for the many sacrifices he has made throughout his long existence.

He celebrated his century of life in the house of his daughter Angela and son Mario, decorated for the occasion with lots of balloons, colored benches, lots of sweets and a big cake . In the afternoon, he met with the mayor Massimo Mulas who did not want to miss this appointment by paying homage to him.
