Prosecutor Francesca Pala asked for acquittal for not having committed the crime against the three defendants accused of manslaughter in Nuoro in relation to the death of Antonello Mereu, the 24-year-old worker from Dorgali who died on 13 March 2014 while working in a marble quarry in Orosei .

A direct consequence of the sensational breakthrough in the investigations that took place in recent months, after the experts ruled out the white death and clearly stated that Mereu's was a malicious homicide . The young worker " was killed, the skull injuries are not compatible with the accident at work, it was a violent and voluntary action by unknown persons ".

For this reason, the prosecutor has asked for the documents to be referred to the prosecutor so that the new hypothesis of crime can be evaluated and proceeded.

A real twist in the hearing last March when, nine years after the events, the experts spoke of an attack with a sharp object, an awl or a screwdriver .

According to the prosecution, therefore, the three accused on trial ( the owner of the company for which the victim worked, Giovanni Mele, and two employees, Sergio Floris and Ignazio Masala ) must be acquitted of the crime of manslaughter. They were accused of failing to comply with safety regulations on construction sites.

However, the civil party lawyer Pietro Salis does not agree: «We – he said in the closing speech – believe in the accident at work , given that the boy, despite his young age, had been left alone without specific training to use those machines , therefore I ask for the conviction of the defendants".

He returns to the courtroom on June 30 for replies and the sentence.
