The final green light is expected in the Council on Thursday: the Tari is ready to make its debut in the city on time. The Council, on the proposal of the Budget Councilor, Luca Faedda, approved the new rates for the waste tax.

It is difficult to say whether the bill for citizens will undergo changes compared to last year, since "the Tarip calculation method is different than in the past", explains the executive representative. If previously the tax was calibrated on square meters and the number of members of the family unit, "today it is calculated on the actual measurement of the waste produced, relative to the fraction of undifferentiated dry matter, making the tax more precise and timely". The principle is simple: «Whoever produces less, pays less», observes the mayor Massimiliano Sanna.

The fee is made up of a fixed and a variable fee. The first, calculated on the basis of the surface area of the property and intended to cover the fixed expenses of the financial economic plan such as street cleaning and emptying of waste bins, ranges from 0.75 euros per square meter for one component to 0.98 for six or multiple components. The variable fee is in turn divided into two parts: the first takes into account the number of components for domestic users (from a minimum of 56.25 euros for one component to a maximum of 236.90 euros for six or more components) and the surface area of the property for non-domestics. The second takes into account the number of emptyings of the undifferentiated fraction (however, a fixed quota is foreseen), and provides a number below which it cannot go.

The regulation also introduces a relief, of 50 percent, for traders penalized by construction sites lasting more than six consecutive months.
