It's called "Pills of the Carta de Logu," and it's a digital project designed to bring the Sardinian Middle Ages to social media and into everyone's homes . Short texts, clear explanations, and direct links to the complete chapters: this is how Istar, on the thirtieth anniversary of its foundation, is making known one of Europe's most extraordinary legal codes, promulgated by Eleanor of Arborea at the end of the 14th century.
Conceived by Giampaolo Mele and edited by Raffaele Cau, the project will publish content weekly on Facebook and Instagram , making the original text in Arborean Sardinian, along with the Italian translation, accessible to an audience of all ages. The first installment is dedicated to the Proemio, in which Eleanor clarifies the goal of her reform : to guarantee justice and stability for the people, churches, and citizens of the Kingdom of Arborea. Compared to the version by her father Mariano IV, the Proemio updates the objectives in a context marked by the wars against the Crown of Aragon.
The short editions are based on the most authoritative critical editions, including that by Giulia Murgia with a translation by Maurizio Virdis (Nuoro, Ilisso, 2022) and the new edition based on the Cagliari manuscript, edited by Giovanni Lupinu with the collaboration of Giovanni Strinna and a preface by Giampaolo Mele (Oristano, ISTAR, 2010). The aim is not only to celebrate thirty years of activity, but to renew the mission of research and valorization of historical memory through which the Istituto Storico Arborense revives and updates one of the highest symbols of Sardinian and Mediterranean civilization.
