The cats that manage to survive are very few. They die from the heat or because they haven't eaten or drunk for who knows many hours. There is an alarm in the seaside village of Torregrande: for about a month there have been those who have abandoned newborn cats inside boxes, they are almost always wrapped in old rags.

It happens exactly between the end of the promenade and the Beach bar, an area where there is a feline colony. The alarm comes from the cat owners who reach the area every day to look after the many cats present.

«What is happening is extremely serious - denounces Alberto Barbieri, cat owner - Abandonment of animals is a crime. In just twenty days we found three boxes. Most of the cats then died."

The first episode dates back to last June 19th. Someone abandoned three newborn cats. Another box was abandoned on July 3: inside there were two cats of about two months. Then again on July 3: this time four newborn kittens were found wrapped up in two bloodstained T-shirts.

«They are cowardly, shameful gestures - continues Alberto Barbieri - those who leave know that in this area there is a feline colony and that the cats are present every day. Otherwise they would choose another site . All three times we informed the traffic police and the police. We asked the police to trace the culprits by viewing the images of the surveillance cameras present in that area. These people must be stopped once and for all.
