Seven out of ten infections: the super transmissible variant Omicron is rampant ( here the latest bulletin ) and in Sardinia it is cornering Delta which is now only detected in three out of ten swabs. Data that tell the acceleration of the virus during the New Year holidays: in the previous survey, that of December 29, the patients affected by Omicron were just 25%.

"The sequencing data from southern Sardinia - summarizes Ferdinando Coghe, medical director of the University hospital of Cagliari and director of the Polyclinic laboratory - certify that Omicron has replaced Delta becoming the prevailing variant, with 70% of cases detected in the last flash-survey prepared by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and in which our laboratory participated. Not even a week before, the data obtained in the south of the island highlighted 25% of Omicron and 75% of Delta. This is why I say that imprudence on New Year's Eve they can all be seen: we are faced with the consequences we feared ”.

SCHOOLS - This is another reason why the return from holidays for most of the 74,000 high school students has yet to arrive. Yesterday the first bell rang , as announced by the minister and the regional councilor for education, but the young people did not show up.

"A very large membership, and today it is replicated", say the students. But yesterday there was also a high number of teachers and school staff missing, 10% nationwide.

Super work for the principals and so many absences on the day of the return of the 196,088 students to the 1,468 regional schools. Many classes are empty or reduced to a few presences in the High Schools: thousands of boys have decided to protest to ask for Dad for at least two weeks.

"The adhesion was massive - Alessandro Frongia, of the coordination of the representatives of the institute, explains to Ansa - We cannot go to the streets so as not to create gatherings, but we are moving with letters to the Region and the Ministry of Education to ask for answers and clarifications. We want to go to school safely ".

The last, in chronological order, who decided yesterday to keep the schools closed was the mayor of Bosa. Too many 244 positives in the village of Temo, among which many linked to the world of school which does not open until Saturday 15. Similar decision in Cabras, Milis, Macomer, Ghilarza; in Desulo the first bell rings on Friday 14th while in Nuoro the boys return to class only after the outcome of the screening.
