A 37-year-old man , Amine Mesrari, of Moroccan citizenship, was found responsible for the crime of attempted murder for an episode that occurred in Olbia in 2017 . The sentence imposed by the judges of the Tempio Court is five years in prison .

The sentence, by the panel chaired by Caterina Interlandi, accepts the reconstruction of prosecutor Noemi Mancinim, who had asked for 8 years of imprisonment.

According to the Gallura prosecutor's office, Mesrari launched his car at high speed to hit his rival, a 40-year-old Nigerian , and only due to a series of lucky coincidences, according to the Carabinieri report, he failed in his aim. It was the residents of a street in the historic center of Olbia who called the Carabinieri, exasperated by the street fights.

The staff of the Olbia Radiomobile Unit removed the Moroccan who continued to rail against the victim.

Mesrari was arrested after hitting two soldiers. But the Nigerian, saved by the Army personnel, also threw himself first against Mesrari and then against the Carabinieri involved in the intervention and was arrested for resisting a public official.

Mesrari, defended by the lawyer Giuseppe Onorato, has always denied all the accusations.
