Nine Sardinian granite monoliths to remember the nine victims of Cyclone Cleopatra, whose tenth anniversary this year marks. Ten years after the tragic event that hit the city on 18 November 2013, causing nine victims, including two children, Olbia will have a monumental symbol in memory of the people who paid for the dramatic consequences of the flood with their lives.

The installation, conceived (and proposed to the municipal administration) by the artist Nicola Filia, created in collaboration with the A1 Engineering studio of Olbia, is a collective work whose realization contributes to the generosity of other city entities that have expressed the will to participate concretely with the donation of materials and equipment necessary for its creation. The granite blocks, the electrical system for lighting the artistic creation and the area, and the laying of the lawn on which the work will be set up will be donated.

The monument will stand out in the state-owned stretch overlooking the sea between the bend of Porto Romano and via Escrivà, and for the installation the Municipality of Olbia has already obtained approval from the Port Authority of the Sardinian sea system .

With a council resolution, signed this morning, the municipal administration expressed «great appreciation for the gesture of spontaneous and free generosity of the donors, the Puliga Pes family, owners of the granite quarry, the Campesi Impianti company for the lighting of the the work and the company Sgaravatti Geo for the creation of the greenery, and for sharing the profound human and identity value that artistic creation has for a territory and a city so deeply wounded by that event".
