Another collapse of the Punic walls in Olbia: after an initial collapse six months ago , another block of granite that made up the defensive walls built by the Carthaginians around 330 BC fell in recent days.

The Historic Center Neighborhood Committee reported the incident and sent a report to the relevant municipal offices, requesting immediate action. "Fragments of masonry have fallen in an open area accessible to the public, posing a serious danger to visitors who freely pass through the area. It is urgent to immediately cordon off the area to prevent access, conduct a technical inspection, and carry out consolidation work, in coordination with the Superintendency," wrote the committee's president, Torre Serra.

This morning, the local police conducted an inspection, promising to secure the area. However, the restoration of the walls is being hampered by a shift in responsibility, which is delaying safety measures. When the first collapse occurred, the committee's president had sent a request to the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape for the provinces of Sassari and Nuoro to take action to protect the archaeological site, but this request remained unanswered.
