Several activists, including members of the A Foras collective, the Sardinian Movement Against Military Occupation, received mandatory expulsion orders from Olbia this morning from the police.

The measures, which limit the possibility of returning to the territory for a set period, were issued following the demonstration that took place on August 31 at Costa Smeralda Airport.

That day, dozens of people took part in a sit-in protest against the arrival of Israeli tourists , in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The demonstration was peaceful and, according to the organizers, no crimes were reported nor were any unlawful behavior reported by the participants.

According to activists in a statement posted on social media, the expulsion orders were motivated by "unfounded accusations of social danger" and constituted an act of repression.

The collective denounces what it considers an attempt to target specific activists and "defuse dissent" over sensitive issues such as the militarization of Sardinia and support for the Palestinian cause.

In protest against the measures , activists organized a sit-in this morning in Olbia and invited all citizens and solidarity groups to take part in the upcoming demonstrations.

"This is an extremely serious and unfounded act that was actually designed to prevent activists from demonstrating peacefully," commented Giulia Lai, lawyer for A Foras.
