Public areas, also visible from the Costa Smeralda airport, would also have been used to store part of the 1300 tons of waste which, according to the Carabinieri del Noe of Sassari, are at the center of traffic organized at a regional level by a group of 15 people, all recipients of precautionary measures.

For at least two years, the soldiers of the Ecological Operational Unit have reconstructed the movements from Gallura to the Cagliari area of about ten people (Bosnians who in the past were guests of the nomad camp of Olbia).

The Carabinieri have identified three sites for the "collection" of toxic waste, one is inside an illegal "micro-camp" built in an agricultural area after the closure of the Olbia municipal nomad camp.

It should immediately be noted that the Municipality of Olbia has done everything to encourage the integration and transfer of nomads into apartments in the city.

But one of the illegal sites that host some families of Bosnian origin, according to the investigations of the DDA of Cagliari, was a reference point for the traffic that had as its final destination four companies in the Cagliari area, whose owners were reported by the Carabinieri. Among the material transferred from Olbia and treated without authorisations, there is also extremely dangerous waste, such as the components of refrigeration systems.
