An angelic figure, dressed casually, rests on the architrave of the Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Ceres, which, two thousand years ago, stood on the site of the Christian church of San Simplicio. On the long wall separating the central train station from the church dedicated to Olbia 's patron saint , a new mural was unveiled this morning. Created by artist Laura Batzu and commissioned by the city administration, it enriches the art walk by restoring old walls and urban decor.
" A gift to our city and it will not be the last work of the Art Walk ," said the mayor, Settimo Nizzi, presenting the grand project, together with the president of the council's Culture Commission, Simonetta Padre, and the parish priest of the basilica, Don Antonio Tamponi.
Eighty hours of work and many kilos of paint, says the artist, "the work is a reminder of the city's history and a message against individualistic drift: we are all unaware angels," reads the mural's yellow ochre background.
