Nuoro's lighting system is out of order: "It's no longer a service failure, it's an emergency."

Insecurity, disruption, and a city plunged into darkness. For several weeks, Nuoro has been dealing with a problem that now affects the entire city : street lighting is missing in many areas, both in the city center and on the outskirts, leaving entire streets completely in darkness.
Citizens' reports are mounting, as is their frustration over a situation that, as the days pass, is increasingly taking on the appearance of an emergency. The main roads, lacking visibility, pose serious traffic risks; pedestrians, families, and workers find it difficult and fearful to get around; and finally, the city is losing its vitality precisely at times when it needs to foster socializing, commerce, and the use of public spaces.
According to the complaints of city councilors Bastianella Buffoni and Pierluigi Saiu, it can no longer be considered a simple failure to provide services. "The prolonged lack of lighting," they argue, "highlights the contradiction between the propaganda narrative of a city that should be reviving and the reality of an administration that is unable to guarantee an essential service." The city cannot be reborn in the dark. Security cannot be optional. Trust cannot be illuminated intermittently.
The social, economic, and visual impact is significant. Entire neighborhoods, deprived of electricity, discourage people from spending time in the evening; many businesses are complaining of a reduction in traffic; residents and workers are demanding immediate action. It's no surprise, then, that Buffoni and Saiu are officially calling on the Mayor and the City Council to act urgently to restore service throughout the city. "It's a matter of safety and decorum," they say, "that can no longer be ignored by those who govern the city." This appeal, while Nuoro awaits the light of day again.
