"We need everyone's help to seize this enormous opportunity called Einstein Telescope." This is what Alessandro Cardini , director of the Cagliari section of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics, says.

"I am launching an appeal to local businesses, so that they come forward to seek new stimuli and opportunities, also thanks to a special call for proposals" . The hunt for the enormous gravitational wave observatory is gaining momentum, starting again from Nuoro with a date circled in red on the calendar. On March 19, from 10:30, in the conference room of the Chamber of Commerce, Infn and Sardegna Ricerche are inviting local businesses to meet in front of Governor Alessandra Todde to reveal the interesting news .

The call – «Until 3 April 2025 it will be possible to submit expressions of interest from all companies intending to carry out research or development activities of innovative solutions related to the technological areas of Key Enabling Technologies and applicable to the Einstein Telescope project» , we read on the Sardegna Ricerche website.

An announcement that fuels the dream, embraces the territory and makes it clear how the operational phase has finally arrived. The long-awaited concreteness, after the eye-catching renderings and the nice words spent by many on an infrastructure with an international scope but too often branded as "smoky". The aim of the survey, the promoters make it clear, is to acquire a detailed picture of the potential interest of companies operating in Sardinia in different technological fields, so as to effectively orient future activities and respond to the innovation needs of the regional production system . From Sardegna Ricerche they point out: «The results of the survey will contribute to the definition of future initiatives to support companies in the Key Enabling Technologies area, in line with the Region's Smart Specialization Strategy (S3)».

Technological areas – Infn and Sardegna Ricerche dictate the line, clarify the opportunities. And although the “technological areas” of the consultation are changeable, for now the sectors identified are the following: vacuum tube insulation; virtual reality and artificial intelligence; production of “o-rings”; electromagnetic compatibility; development of magnetometer instruments or new technologies; indoor and outdoor environmental monitoring; acoustic design of underground infrastructures; logistics; other activities related to the ET project.

Interested parties can submit their proposal to the Pec address “protocollo@cert.sardegnaricerche.it”. Cardini concludes: «We have the skills, companies must seize the opportunity. I hope that the meeting in Nuoro on March 19 will be well attended. It will be important and clarifying».
