There is no fuel for the boiler of the heating system, the elementary school of Sertinu in Macomer closes.
"It was not possible to find the wood chips, chosen with a view to environmental sustainability, due to the economic crisis linked to the Russia-Ukraine war" , explains the councilor for public works, Filomena Colleo, "we are solving the problem with the conversion of the boiler, from wood chips to pellets. The test will be carried out today and for this reason it was considered appropriate to proceed with the closure of the school, to preserve the health of the children". The stop to lessons decided by order of the mayor Antonio Onorato Succu is valid until the 26th, but extensions are possible.
However, the closure is sparking controversy. A group of parents writes: "We find it paradoxical that with such a mild and long autumn we have waited until now to check the correct functioning of the boiler that feeds the heating system".
The exponent of Fratelli d'Italia, Arturo Uleri, parent of two pupils, adds: "We continue to navigate on sight without any programming, obviously our children are paying the price".
Colleo replies by return of post: «The solution is close at hand. It must be said that energy efficiency works are still underway in the school: among other things, all the fixtures and fittings have been replaced. We don't navigate on sight and have long planned the various interventions that will affect the various city schools which, as we have always said, were built many years ago and require substantial resources".
